Good sized oak this morning. Got to burn a few tanks through my new Makita EA 7900. I figured I'd get one of these while they're still around. I've had it a while just haven't had any wood to cut. 24 inch bar, with 2 in dawgs. Wouldn't you know I hit something nasty and dulled the first chain 3 cuts in. Had a backup and swapped chains. Brought the XS362c as backup. Ran a tank through it. Semi chisel for the win. Nice to be working with gravity for a change. The tree snapped about 15 feet up. The last 5 feet on the ground were no good. Decent haul. I would have like to bring the trailer but the roads are narrow. Had to noodle all the rounds. Went back for more, there wasn't a whole lot left. Some of the wood walked away while I was back at home. Total for the day. The 362 will do just about everything I need but the 7900 pulls a 24 or 28 bar with authority and will oil like crazy. I think I may have the sickness. I think the tune looks good. Time for some ibuprofen.

Nice work for sure! As Chvymn99 said, don't leave anything somebody else can carry easily. MS 362 XS is a great saw! I love mine. Send that 7900 up to huskihl too, you won't be disappointed, those are an excellent saw.
The wood that walked off had something in it that dulled my chain and was much too large for even two people to carry. It'd be a shame had ruined their chain too.

Got it all split with the fiskars x27 this afternoon. This oak smells heavenly and split easily. Wood for the winter of 2029.

Thanks SCA! Ill burn about three cord a year, 3 and a half is the most I've burned. I have about 20 cord give or take. So I am 6 2/3rd year plan. How many cords do you have?

Thanks Barcroftb! I don't remember your name but mine is Tucker. Kevin let me run his at the GTG. He asked me if i wanted to run the 7900, I said no im good twice and he said im not going to ask again. Had the feeling if I ran it I would buy one. Bunch of enablers. Glad I bought when I did I just looked and the price went up $80 dollars since I got mine. Will get some run time at the GTG next week. Its only had 2 or 3 tanks run. If I get it ported should still be under or around the price of a 462. With the help of your thread i was able to remove the crack pipe look in thing in the muffler. Didn't even run it with the slr pipe in there.
Oh dang that’s right not sure why I mixed you up with Dirtdevil! My bad Tucker. My name’s Brad. I’m in the minority I’ve never been all that impressed with the 462. Having ported 7900s is a big part of that.
Sad thing is I can get air filters plugs etc parts for the makita online faster and cheaper than my stihl dealer can for my stihl saws. They don't stock much of anything.
Thats not good news. Maybe I should grab more, but I keep air and gas filters, plugs, and a few other small consumables for each saw on hand. Imagine not being able to cut for lack of a spark plug?
Must be nice burning 3 or so a year. We go through about 6. Course we've only burned 1.5 seasons so far, so I haven't much basis to establish an average yet. I have about as much as you do on hand. It is so good to have multiple years on hand. Im kinda planning, at the end of my present score, to take a year off from scrounging, or at least focused scrounging anyway. The 7900 is a very good saw and won't be sold new much longer. Those rounds were borderline too heavy to lift after noodling!
I thought that too and have quartered them that size. Not that i cant lift them, just easier when handling a couple more times.
What insider info have ya got? I'm more a Stihl guy but my biggest saw is an 038. Great saw but I can't really see myself not having a back up to that.
Great wood get! Oak is awesome when you are that far ahead to give it the time it deserves. It just sits in that fire box for hours and hours giving off major league heat.
