Well, it probably depends on where you are. A town planned for Hurricanes, with solar, is doing just fine. And those with solar, battery backups that shut off the grid tie, and that didn't lose their entire property are probably fine too. Sure, that is an outlier but shows it can be done if planned properly. Doesn't mean it will work for everyone - especially if slapping it together as an afterthought.

Getting gas can be challenging in some areas with long lines and stations closed because they have no power, no gas, or both. So those with gas powered generators and cars travel quite a distance (assuming the roads allow and they have gas in their vehicles to do so), stand for hours in line with gas cans, or are doing without. Those are probably outliers too, when the whole of the destruction area are taken into account.

Point is that whatever you use, if there are catastrophic events, there are challenges and you just prepare the best you can.

My attitude has definitely changed since I started taking blood pressure medication about 6 weeks ago.

Water intrusion into the batteries are causing catastrophic corrosion issues and catching fire. Lithium burns super hot and the fire department’s are struggling with putting the fires out. Just another flaw of the EV.

I heard every single rescue vehicle/machine/generator sent in there was gas or diesel...wonder why?

Maybe because they work, are reliable, are proven, can go for days on end with enough fuel………

    Exactly. :handshake:

I suppose the new and improved EV's will have a "water tight" battery compartment after this? :sherlock:

So true. You make the best plans for your area and deal with whatever comes your way when it happens.

Everyone has different ways they are spending the long weekend. Here it's a balmy and sunny 47 degrees, we're at peak foliage season, the wood stove is going in the living room, and it's a perfect day to finish processing the bear meat.

My dusk to dawn LED yard light quit working. It is 7 years old as near as I can tell. Dang! I needed it to shine into the yard for night fishing.

Any one else ever have that happen?
