Sunburns when young will get you later in life. I'm dealing with that now, with my dad. I avoid direct sunlight as much as I can. Vit D supplements are your friend!
Since chemo, I have to wear a hat all the time and a sleeved shirt. The chemo effected my skin somehow and I tan easily being 1/4 Sioux
I've already had some pre cancer on the bridge of my nose removed... I've got a Derm appointment next week for a overview...
Pray you heal up and a bunch more doesn't pop up Ralphie. I started wearing a straw hat again this past summer. I usually get burnt worse during the winter from the snow glare.
Thanks for the post Ralphie Boy. I agree to the value of wearing a wide brim hat (that shades your ears and neck), long sleeve shirts, long pants and gloves every time you're in the sun. I'm 68 years old and it seems like skin issues keep popping up from nowhere. I visit my dermatologist twice a year and realize the damage I may have caused to myself when I was young and less protective of my skin. Sunscreen is a must if you are outside any time at all. My advice to everyone is to cover up now and help prevent skin problems in the future. I have experienced three Mohs surgeries over the last five years for treating basal cell carcinomas. My surgeries were not as severe as yours but if the dermatologist had not found the cancers in their early stages I would have been in real trouble. Good luck Ralphie Boy on your recovery and get back to normal.
Pick at any scabs so it makes a big scar, then you can have a lifetime of stories !! May your recovery be painless and complete!
Hey @Ralphie ,Boy can't like that! Hope you heal up and hair over quickly with little pain. On the positive side, if it leaves a mark you can tell everyone it is a dueling scar!
How’s it healing Ralphie Boy ? I just got the call from my Dermatologist on the lab results…got to go back in to have more skin removed on both biopsy’s… both were precancerous…
Hope you are healing quickly and have no more problems. Was yours basal cell? You are so right about the sunscreen. When I was young, I thought I wanted a tan...lol...sure paying for it now. I've had 2 basal cells removed amd then this squamous cell tumor popped up in 2016. Underwent MOHS surgery on that one, took out a circle almost as big as a half dollar. Got a facelift on that side... The other red spots were treated with the cream that burns them off...
