I was at Ace the other day picking up a new chain when I saw the Fiskar maul and decided I might as well try it out. I can't get through a whole season of chopping without the head eventually flying off of the Husky brand I get from Home Depot. I usually go through two Husky mauls per season (hand chopping 14-16 cords per season). Anyone out there have experience with the Fiskars maul and does the head eventually loosen up like the Husky's? Thanks
Iso-Core , if that is what you got you should be pleased , Lifetime Guarantee ; Just ask BRAD ; he has them on speed-dial.
I have and isocore, and have stuffed it through about 14 cord this year. The kiddo has hit the handle.and shattered some of the plastic, but it still goes. He is a beginning but committed splitter. Mine is still intact, zero problems. I also went through a few wooden and 1 fiberglass handled mauls previously. Sca
Broke my 2nd ISOCORE about a month ago , just got replacement in the mail, no questions ask on warranty claim, just send in the pics and they send you a new one. You will literally never have to buy a maul ever again! now I have figure out what to do with a broken handles and heads!?!?
I've owned the iso core and the x27. Broke both of them. I agree the warranty is great. Haven't broke them again, but I learned NOT to use them when it is really cold outside, I think that is what makes the plastic brittle maybe.
Broke mine in March and have broken two X27's. Excellent warranty coverage. Simple claim online and replacement. I had the option of a new maul or check as the maul was out of stock at the time. Got a check and bought another. Now using a hydro for the most part i expect them to last longer. Great tool and you wont regret it Juniper Hill
I'm another fan of the IsoCore maul. I must be lucky, I've never broken a Fiskars axe/maul. I have the 8lb maul, X27, X25, X17,X7 and the pickeroon. Never had to use their warranty, but it's good to know others have had good luck with it, since I'm sure one day I will need it.
Don't let anybody tell you the 8lb isocore will be the last maul you will ever need. I'm old and 8lbs are gettin heavy, so I had to get me a 6lber. Just got it yesterday and it's been raining so I'll give it a try on some ash and pin oak tomorrow.
Well, I split about a half cord with it today, and it seemed to pop the pin oak pretty well. I whooped on it with my 8# mini sledge, and it took it like a man.
