Finally got to the flue today and it cleaned up great with the Soot Eater. I was putting it off, but after it was 63º in the house this morning I didn’t wasn’t to chance lighting another fire after the one small on the other night. Except for one small area of shiny creosote it was fluffy and easy to get out. C’mon Winter!
What if you had 3 to 6 but burn it faster than you collect it , starting to panic for next winter ( I’m in Uk and can turn heating on BUT I DONT WANT TO)
Broke down and turned the lp furnace on last night- it was 17 below zero just a bit much for the NC30 by itself in my 2200 sq.
Don't feel to bad chris , I have been burning some #2 oil to supplement my Lopi insert. Having the stove upstairs, in a raised ranch, on one end of the house, and temps below -20, demands some additional help with keeping the house somewhat warm.
In these cold spells I just set the back zone for the bedrooms at 68 and the front zone at 70 (ng hot water boiler) If the stove gets it over that so be it. Also have the thermgard turned on just in case.
Hello all, nice to be here and thanks for having me. I'm a new woodburner in Alberta, Canada. Our PacificEnergy Neo 1.6 is being installed on Monday. Since last year I've been stockpiling poplar, spruce and maple in anticipation. Because it's my first winter I'm not sure how much I'll burn but I'm already guessing its not enough. Lots of green wood already put up for next year though! Was out for grouse last weekend and figured I'd pick up some lodgepole too. I'll attach some pictures once I figure out how.

Thank you all! Here is the lodgepole in my truck with my saw, a relatively new Husq 445. And of course, dog tax!
Welcome to the FHC foothillsfire Lots of know how here with lots of humor too! We love pics and lots of them!
Great looking gear and pup! Welcome to the club, you're just in time for the burning season. Glad to have you with us!
Just realized earlier today, that I hadn't posted any pictures on this site. I have about 15 cords in log form and about 12 cord split. I also have 4 huge honey locust trees, that are probably about 3 cord trees, a piece, but I want to get my current mess cleaned up, before I go get them. Let's see how I do with some picture posting.
Less than desirable neighbors and there's a towing company right behind me that hauls in some goof balls off the interstate. Plus I have big dogs. 7 ft metal fence weeds out some mischief.
