    The willow I've dealt with in the past was heavier. Maybe this is dryer. It's campground wood so really don't need btu's out of it

    If it doesn't smell piney (resinous) and is really light, I'd say basswood. I've only had one tree and when dry, it's like cardboard. Bark is kinda like ash.

    Could be basswood. Yeah, looking at it more it sure looks like basswood. You'll know when you burn it. But that's my vote.

    I would've said red maple by the bark, looks just like a lot of ours.

    Does basswood have a different heartwood color? Ive only cut it a few times and it was solid colored thoughout...very light color. I think it had a center pith too.

    It's all that same color, typically. The smell when burning will confirm it one way or another. It's definitely a distinct smell. It's more obvious when there's more moisture in the wood, but even fully dry for stove use, it still has a unique smell.
