Neither do I and I have 2 to maintain, not one and corn is a lot more messy than pellets but the per unit BTU output is also greater, in fact, much greater (depending on the relative moisture of the corn).

What are wood pellets going for out your way as of late? ( and mine were bought last year btw).

Not sure young lady as I'm not purchasing any this fall. I was waiting for the usual Tractor Supply sale flyer to appear about buying full pallets at a discount off the per bag price, but so far, nothing has landed in my mailbox Have to go to TSC today, so I'll check the price and report back. Need to go to Lowes too, so I'll check there as well.

OK. 2 questions. Is the versa grate system on my st. croix really necessary? The wheel that moves the rod back and forth looks pretty beat up this year. There are chips of it below it. I would rather just disconnect it, than take it all apart. My second question is how do I upload a picture? I get an error message saying it doesn't have a proper extension.

It will depend on how often you are willing to clean your burn pot and if you can get enough air flow through the non moving grate. It is the movement that keeps the grate from plugging up and restricting the airflow. I use jpg for pictures. Like this IMG_0170.JPG

Yes it is. Well, I guess it depends on how it is used and how often you want to stir things. If you run it full time, and are home all day with nothing better to do, then no it isn't.

To upload a picture do not use the icon at the top, rather use the "Upload a File" button on the bottom right next to "Post a Reply"

    upload button.JPG
Then pick your picture from your computer. You can upload several at time - if you don't care what order they appear - or upload 1 at a time.

Once uploaded, look on the lower left and you can choose to leave them at thumbnail (in which case you do not have to click the thumbnail button), or make them full. Ccaution, if you don't reduce the image size prior to upload, they will be GIGANTIC on the screen).

If you have several images, then you will also get the option to insert every image as a full
    thumnails.JPG

You can also mix and match the thumbnail versus full image sizes. I'm not sure why you would want to do so, but it is an option.

thanks BB, but it's not working. I changed the file to jpg, jpeg.... I keep getting an extension error or a the download is not an image message. I have uploaded here before, but I can't seem to make it work now. Either way, I'm wondering just how long I can burn without the grate moving. I guess I'll find out!

Maybe if I made the holes on the grate a little bigger?

Unless you can rebuild the burn pot leave it alone.

If you're going to all that trouble, just fix it the right way to begin with. Just my 2 cents.
