We recently moved to a small property a wee bit over an acre here in the mountains west of Denver back in July. Fortunately (and unfortunately given the amount of slash to deal with) there was a LOT mitigation work to do which involved dropping dozens if trees to work on the defensible space.

I was moving most of the wood with my trusty wheelbarrow but quickly realized the futility in moving heavy loads uphill manually over steep, rocky terrain.

My next thought involved a 4wd tractor but I couldn’t justify the cost for such a small property.

    Enter the trackbarrow…

I’ve moved, uphill, over steep rock terrain around 5 cords of wood with this thing. It’s worked phenomenally for this steep, tight and small acreage use case.

I also mounted a $15 zero turn hitch to the front bolt mounts intended for a plow and have skidded a lot of logs with it.

Pretty damm pleased so far with this piece of equipment. It’s definitely proved invaluable given the layout and size of our land for moving firewood.

Sound like it had worked out well for you. Don't overlook the usefulness of a small tractor. I am on a little under 1 acre of improved property and find my tractor very useful.

Correction to my post #4 below.

Neat piece of equipment and ideal for your needs. Reloader has a similar machine
Id be overloading it and giving the neighborhood kids rides!

That is a cool little piece of equipment. Didn't even know something like that was available.

Enjoyed ours a lot Jutt . I welded up a rear hitch and added a Delrin belly pan... and had some fun in snow. They are quite a tool. Bet it's perfect for the terrain you've got.

I saw your mod post! I lack the fab skills you have but would love to build a similar hitch and skid plate. Learning to weld is on the list…

I just miiiight be the world's "luckiest" gumball welder... but, it sticks... ;) ... fyi... the skid plate didn't need any welding... that might be why it stayed on...

… yep I might just totally steal your skidplate design. Seems like a great idea for snow.

In the meantime, this little $15 6B8CBDD4-E410-4263-8874-177143EBC78A.jpeg zero turn hitch has done a surprisingly great job for skidding in reverse

The finished Delrin belly plate... and the heat bent, rear attach points... to the rear hitch.

Yep. I have a 60" Moose plow for my four-wheeler, actually works pretty good. Haven't used it since I put a 8' 6" V-plow on my new truck in 2015....it's a lot warmer in the truck! :D

I used to plow with a quad. I had a 60" Kimpex on mine. Worked well but back then I was plowing my parents place too and if we got a big storm it was hours to clean us both out.

That looks like great fun for all! How much do you charge for a 30 minute sightseeing ride through the snow?
