Been working on my C30 truck... seems like everything I touch is one of those... well... that's screwed up, and this, and this.
Started out as putting a pinion seal and valve covers... well then realized the 30 yr old rad hoses where shot and leaking.
That lead to finding a slurry of Dexcool/green Prestone which I had to flush.
Well flushing it out revealed a leaking radiator.
Also put new plugs and wires, apparently it was only running on 7 cylinders, one of the wires was 2 pieces. Funny thing is I can't hardly tell a difference.

Decided to paint the wheels, try and make the truck look 1/2way decent. I'd rather not people think I'm selling wood out of a ratty truck for drug money.

Well that lead into finding the front wheel bearings were worn out as well as the brakes. Was told it had recent brakes too.... yeah... I think they might have been factory.
While replacing that I find the rubber lines to the calipers are shot. Go to replace those. Well GM decided to run the hard line through the frame and to get to the nut it's near impossible. I gave up after 2+ hrs of fighting with it.

Today went to do a parts run with my other truck, which had the trailer hooked and see a tire is flat. Well I think I set my nice air gun nozzle on the fender when switching out to the air chuck and never put it away. It's gone now.

Got the C30 going, went to road test... starting to rain, getting dark, I'm trying to hurry up. Didn't notice the black creeper under the truck. Best creeper I've owned.

Well it didn't hold up well to a duallie. One wheel pretty much blew up and the frame is all bent.

I really hate playing mechanic when I need to be making firewood.

Oh... and all while this is going on the dog had the poops, I've got the phone ringing every 10 mins... most of the time stupid questions that are answered in my ads and website.

"seasoned wood?" price? "I was wondering if you could bring 15 cords of wood 300 miles across state this afternoon. It needs to be seasoned and oh, you would need to stack it. And I can only pay $500, so do we have a deal?"

Some days it pays to say "Frig It", and just go fishing.................Life is too short to burn yourself out on things you really have no control over. Drop back 10, take a deep breath and punt.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one that has those problems. I set a screw driver down next to me and for some reason it takes me 10 minutes to find it..
It sounds like you keep your trucks a long time and you want them in good condition. I like that

No kidding Stinnster, you beat me to it. A "murphy was here" sign should be posted here. At least the other members will know where he is.
NY is kinda close, I should take it easy today on the projects :)

Heck, sometimes I think Murphy LIVES here, and just visits others at whim.
Sorry about all that crap nate.
    Time for a do-over.
Definitely hard to get the real work done when everything else is going to heck.
    Jeez, for $600, I'd take 15 cords. Do I win the bidding? I'll give ya' my address in a p.m.:rofl: :lol::rofl: :lol:Man, some people.:headbang:
Oh, and I'd not worry too much about looking like a druggie......not too many have your drive and ambition.

WOW brother that's a rough day.... The brake line blew on my k15 the other day and let me tell ya it's a royal pita to get at the nut! Worse are the retaining clips behind the motor mount. Honestly if I had to do it again I'd simply cut the bugger and run a line under the frame it would be far easier to fix next time if there is a next time.

I hope things improve for ya!

I'm told the K trucks are easier to do actually. I'm bringing it to a shop. The ~$100 sucks but I'm at my wits end with it.

Wow man isn't this the truck you bought not long ago? I hate when that chit happens. Wonder if it was just pieced together to sell and they did not use it beforehand.

I bought it from a buddy who ran it for a few months. He did an oil change, trans oil, etc but otherwise didn't mess with it too much.

The guy that owned it before was a contractor and I think he did most of the "work". He was using it up until he sold it. Not sure if he got a new truck or quit working.

I don't expect a 30 yr old truck to be perfect, but stuff like putting the lug nuts on like that. It's hardly safe. Someone KNOWINGLY removed the clamp rings for some reason.

Yea I wouldn't blame it on my buddy but hard to say about the other guy. Yea for a 30 year old truck I would expect any issues to arise I had an 84 stakebody that has issues from time to time but nothing like the clamp ring issue. No real way to explain that one.

Even worse is when you put it down and the kids decide it's their turn to use it.
