I see your breathing point but, id be way more concerned about atomized bar oil. It gets all over my glasses, so I know its going in me. Especially with my echo 2511. They sling oil like crazy and often you are limbing at face level. That said, I'm not switching to canola oil. Its nasty stuff once in starts congelation.

I never thought of that, but who limbs at face level?

I do often because we have 2.4 miles of bike / walking trails on our property plus a 400 yard shooting range. More often than not the branches are waist high on up that encroach into the trails. Also, even bucking or any cutting for that matter, there will be a nearly invisible cloud of atimized oil around you if it's still. If there is a breeze, staying up wind isn't always an option and when concentrating on not cutting a leg off, which way the breeze is taking that cloud isn't in the forefront of my mind. I always have to wash bar oil off my glasses after using a saw.

My beard is a bar oil and chip collector. Pine chips are the best.

I can almost appreciate that! I shave nearly every day so no worry there, but was once cutting and I guess had my mouth open :zip: , I had a big clump of sawdust and bar oil mixed into a small meatball and it flew into my mouth. :headbang::picard::jaw: I have no idea how, but it did! Needless to say I am very self conscience about cutting with mouth open again.

They get everywhere. In my pockets, boots ect. I learned quickly to have pants over the boots. I even break that rule on occasion then complain about the chips in my socks lol.

Every time I watch Kevin’s latest video I think there’s a guy that doesn’t mind shoes full of chips.

I hadn't really thought about ingesting bar oil, but I'm sure you're right that it happens.

I guess the question I have is how much is too much?

I imagine everyone is different. Smokers that never get lung cancer and non smokers do. I've had enough carb cleaner, gasoline and diesel on my skin in the past that it is in the back of my mind on occasion. Too late now if I turned on the cancer switch from being young and dumb. I definitely try to not be huffing exhaust fumes or bar oil mist but im also not worrying about 25:1 vs 50:1 in my mix being more deprimental. When I'm using a saw its rare that I'm constantly smelling anything but wood chip smell. Wiffs of exhaust here and there or in certain situations happen. Just something I'm not overly concerned about.

Rather than being worried about inhaling too much bar oil, I would be worrying about not getting enough. I'm sure there is a minimum daily requirement of bar oil for True Hoarders! Probably also for 2 cycle exhaust, pitch on your gloves and chips in your pants and shoes. All part of the game. You just have to learn to love it!:saw::stacker::D

85°F !! Man do y'all air condition the outside! That's a nice fall day here! Try I'm not wearing pants when it's 105°! Often will wear chaps with shorts though. They help the chip thing some. But really it's often north of 95° here in the summer while cutting.

Come on up in 4 months when it’s only 10° outside and we will cut some firewood in flannel shirts. You can wear a snowsuit :D
