The Nukumi, a brand new ship this year, delivering salt.

She holds enough to sprinkle a few meals of fish and chips.

A foam cannon with Dawn Dish soap is a pretty fun way to knock down a nest. Seven dust, 2" PVC with a tee (and cap) and leaf blower is my next favorite method. I've got several on my property that have required attention this year. I just picked up more Seven. These things are going down tonight.

Cleaned up a tree in the pasture today as well. More firewood. Took the stump out. Each time going in and out of pasture I have to block the gate off before I open it. Can you see why? B69C9BA9-2219-4604-9876-6F86B3F2BD25.jpeg
He will wait until you have it open and then quickly move out to eat in the grass on the other side! 2177E8C5-51C9-4517-A34F-A36F6D6B64A5.jpeg
And onto the burn pile. We will need some serious rain, or snow, before I burn this pile up. 60A0F279-802D-4FBD-A116-3A4382C78345.jpeg

One man's burn pile is another man's scrounging site. Some of that pile looks like good firewood to me!

Hurricane Earl brought 8+ inches of rain to our east coast this weekend. Seems like most of the damage, except for the breakwater, was in the city. That's not surprising. I had to turn around on my way to work yesterday and find another route because the road was flooded out.

I did scrounge some of the bigger stuff out of it yesterday. Some of it has bugs though, don’t need them closer to the house. One of the trees I cut up the lower 1/3 was infested with ants. Onto the burn pile those rounds went.

I didn't know a storm went up the coast! That is some serious damage. It is going to cost a lot to fix it. I didn't catch if there was loss of life. It is a big thing to survive an assault like that.

Odd to me why some years are so much worse for ground bees. My son has encountered some also. I seldom ever go off the pavement.

TrinitySouth99 that last picture really shows the power of the water. We haven't been watching the news so we missed hearing about your storm.

This is the worst year I've seen in a while as far as hornets go. I wonder if bird populations are down around here. We have a ton of crickets and grasshoppers as well.

The rain has finally arrived here. Not hard rain. They aren’t calling for much, maybe 3/4”, but I’m hoping for a slow and steady rain throughout the day and into the overnight. We are in need of it.

Is it me or do the weather forecasters just suck in doing their job?
Yesterday we had a 15% chance for today, I wake up and it changed to 50% and now it's pouring hard!
I have a serious dislike for these so called forecasters...
I have no issue with them saying 75% chance and it not raining, but don't tell us 50% chance when it looks like 100% and it rains..

Anyone else would get fired, these folks keep their job while lying with a smile on their face... arg end rant-

I have the same problem with those forecasters. I check weather on my phone and it can change 5 times during the day. It was supposed to rain all morning until 2pm. Not a single drop!

I haven't heard about any actual injury or anything, but a ship did float off a drydock at the shipyard. That's actually kind of funny as long as no one was hurt. All is normal now, except where roads are still impassable - hopefully that's fixed soon, but at least people can manage to walk it for emergencies and essentials.

Maybe the forecasts originate from Washington DC?

Moved a bit over a cord of firewood into the basement this morning. Yeah, I'm sore and moving slow.

I placed a fan aimed at the pile to "help out" a bit but by the time I get to use this stuff, it'll be late Feb or Mar.
