Wife comes home and tells me that a woman in her class said their “200 year old oak tree” in the front yard had to be cut down and did I want to cut it up for free firewood. Of course I said yes without even going to look at it.

This is what I found. 3 visits later it’s all cut and trailered out to the hunting property. I’d say the base was 36-38” diameter. I bought a 32” Husqvarna Light bar just for this project to run on my 572xp.

During this same time I ordered a Wolfe Ridge 35C splitter! Expected to arrive in October. We have a local dealer in St. Louis.

When I initially turned onto their street I noticed their next door neighbor had a downed hickory tree partially cut up. On my second trip while cutting the oak tree he comes walking down and stops to talk. He gave up on it. Too much work. Did I want it? Heck yeah. I’ll post pics of it as well.

Holy hernias batman! :bug: I love how one score leads to another. Always fun to have new hoarding toys for big scores. Wanna see pics of the new splitter in action.

Hey...wait a minute...isn't that against your state code or slogan or something?

Looks like you'll get a few sticks out of that! Nice!

Nice score! You'll be enjoying that oak and hickory for a while! I love walking by my 100% hickory stack. Still smells amazing months after being split.

That right there is an awesome score of future BTU's. The new splitter will definitely be broken in when you get done.
