So it had been awhile since I’d processed any wood and I was getting the itch and needed to clean up some uglies and do some splitting. The ISOCORE went first. I noticed the head seemed a little loose and finial it broke off in a stubborn round. Second ISOCORE I’ve broke. I filed a warrant claim and revived a confirmation email stating it will be 3-6 weeks. Hopefully they are still standing by there warranty. next went the 660. I already posted about that, I still have to check the tank vent to see if it’s leaking. I’m a little hesitant to use it after it started on fire!
Clean the side with the suspected leak until it's dry and sprinkle a powder even kitchen flower will work on the area and then see where it gets wet first.
$@#%$ having a twofer failure in one day. I got a check instead of a new isocore since they were out of stock on them and a long wait. This was in March. I wouldnt use a saw that catches fire either. Dont blame you there.
Yup! Two X27's and an Isocore since i became a member here Feb. 2019. They are safe now with a hydro splitting most of my wood now. Hopefully i dont have that luck with a hydro.
Isocore maul question: I have put mine through 12 ish cord this year. The last Hickory score was on rocky ground, and I found a lot of rocks. I ground the bit with the bench grinder to smooth out the chunks. The shape of the bit is changing though, the toe (where rocks are hardest contacted) becoming rounded. Can the head be removed and flipped over? There is a pretty burly set screw in the Isocore......
Good question. Somewhere i have the head that broke off mine. Ill have to see if that can be done. Its okay to break stones, but gotta stop chopping rocks Dave!
