I'm considering using some billboard tarps for covering my firewood. I'm currently using rubber roofing and wondering if these are a good alternative to the rubber roofing. As I do not have any knowledge about these coverings I'm coming to the membership for their opinions on their use and durability. Thanks Again
I’ll bet it holds up at least as good as a blue tarp from any box stores. If’n the price is right give em a go and let us know in the spring how they did.
There has been several who have used them and all seemed to think they worked very well. They may not last as long as rubber roofing but I'll bet they will hold up for years.
Ive heard they last for a very long time from a dedicated hoarder. I think Im going to try them on a couple stacks when some my tarps go bad.
2 things I've noticed using them Not waterproof which doesn't bother me much I mainly use to keep leaves and debris off Life expectancy is 3-5 yrs
Tarps - cover your wood don't limit yourself to billboard tarps, you might find one of these for free or almost free.
Never had a billboard tarp. I did bring home a billboard banner. The type of sign that’s hung from a building with ropes. About 4x20 and seemed like it’d last forever. Come winter it became very stiff. Any creases became cracks which leaked. Within a few years it was stiff all year long and more trouble than it was worth. No idea if the tarps are the same material but I have read others make the same complaints. I’d also guess that not all billboard tarps are created equal and it’s a bit of a crapshoot as to what you’ll get.
