I was going to ask the same thing. Pretty smart computer to analyze the oil as it runs, and then detune it based on it finding an oil besides husky oil!!

I've been using Bel-Ray H1-R for years. Works for me.

DUH! I wasn't familiar with "Auto tune"... Thank you for pointing that out. I don't run Husqvarna saws.

    It's the viscosity....

I've tested a few oils.....not quite the way Steve has, but in regard to performance mostly. I did this in response to RedBull661 telling me that the Belray oil I was using hurt performance in SOME saws as much as 35% in terms of cut speed. I of course thought he was nuts. So I tested. He was right !!!

So with that in mind, I started looking at other oils.....and started paying a lot of attention to what other folks were seeing, and commenting on. I believe the Belray H1R is too thick to work well in autotune and M-Tronic saws. Which I believe also means it is too thick to work well in small displacement saws too. I then switched to Yamalube 2R. I've since switched to Amsoil Dominator because of how crisp it tunes.....and because of Steve's torture tests.

This is not the first time I have read this. I don't have an Autotune saw, but I have heard of people say that H1-R hurts performance. I have been thinking about switching oils just for the simple fact that sometimes I get a headache from, assuming, the H1-R. I just don't know what to switch to, so I haven't yet.

Do you run it at 32:1? What is this torture test you speak of? Got a link?

It’s best to be around a campfire when Eggshooterist tells it….I’m sure typing is one thing, but his passion and expressions says a lot… Learned a lot up at Dennis’s GTG this last spring…

Thanks for that bud. This comment helps makes up for all the crap I've taken over my oil testing the last 3+ years just trying to share the results.

That said, when in doubt, hit up Menards. They have the earls. All kinds, shapes and sizes.

The lumber company in our town was a dealer. I didn't think they were being made anymore.

It looks like Tanaka/Koki Holdings ceased all 2 stroke production in feb 2021.

Cool to see you here. Haven't seen you here in awhile. Of course myself I have been pretty scarce the last several years. Been trying to make an effort to visit and share here more as well.

I kind of remember reading about Redbulls tests some place else several years back. I don't think he was into it that deep yet.

Only M tronic I have is at work. It's not ported and sits in a toolbox in case I don't decide to turn around when I find a down tree.

All they need is a gas station out front and it would be one stop shopping.

Where my wife is from originally in Wisconsin, they have 2 Menards, a Blains farm and fleet :eek:o_O within a 15 mile radius, and a Fleet Farm about 25 miles away. What else would you need! :D:cool: :tears: Well, here where I'm at, we did just get a Tractor Supply last year. My Stihl dealer is 25 miles away. o_O Now if I want a surf board or a bicycle, I'm Golden!

Blains is my favorite. We have two in the 25-35 mile range. We also have 3 tractor supply stores in 25 miles or less, two Menards in about the same. Couple home Depots, lowes. I have the option to be irritated by the staff in multiple places lol.
