I've never seen a chain with 2 cutters facing same direction back to back before. Am I nuts? Oregon tech service says that's normal on a 78 drive link chain to join them!? I think they are full of it. He said it looks dull from picture. He's their engineer!? Its brand new 6-7 cuts before I noticed it.

Any drive link count that won't divide by 4 will end up odd some way.

A 66DL count Stihl (18" bar). That is the most common I run across.

OK, Thanks guys. I wasn't sure if I was going nuts. It's been hotter than the blazes of hell here and I've been cutting in it all day every day. Must be the heat! It seems to be a great cutting chain though.
Moving on nothing to see here....

My Poulans always had that, 16" and 20" which I liked because if you start filing at the double you know when you arrive back you've hit everyone. Start in front of the double on the other side, same thing. My Husqvarna is not like that so I mark the tooth when I start around.

I had some chains with two of the same cutters in a row. It never caused any problem that I ever noticed.

He is right on both counts. It does "look" dull but may not be. The little glare on the very edge of the top plate, is what is called "glint", where the top plate starts to lose its edge against the face of the chain. With that being a semi chisel chain, and not having a sharp corner to begin with, it probably does still cut fine. If it was a chisel chain, and started loosing the working corner of the tooth it might not cut so well.

BobL on anothersite had some GREAT threads on chain that I learned quite a bit from, but I don't know if the pics are still there after the crash.

Seen it on other chains besides oregon too. Just depends on who is making the loops and what the drive link count is sometimes. I swear I got a loop out in the barn that came in on a trade that has 3 in a row. I would have to check.

Never hurt a thing and the wood couldnt tell the difference in the cut.

I stand corrected. I just don't recall seeing it before. I asked my Dad, Father in Law and a few logger buddies, they had all seen it before. I must have seen it too just paid no attention, until now. Oh well, thanks for all the insight guys.
Now back to the wood cutting......

Very straight and pretty fast cutting chain for the 50cc saw and green wet oak.
