About 4 gallons a year. It does not matter what the ratio is that is how much mix I use.

I understand the 87 vs 91 octane thing in a normal engine and in a saw. Some don't and can't buy yea I know what your saying I use 87 for the same reason. And yes not my attention to have an octane/ethonol/ oil debate either. Use what you want on YOUR saw. On my saw j use MY MIX and my MIX ONLY!

Red Armor is Echo brand factory oil, buy it at your Echo dealer or like me you have a dealer that only wants to sell you little bottles or a case of 4 gallon jugs just watch it on Amazon and buy it when it's at a good price.

I don't really like red dye oil cause gas jugs are red and it's sometimes hard to tell. I like blue better for this reason.

Haha , yea but the question was "How many gallons of 50:1 mix do you use". I see it has now been edited or changed to no longer say that.

Edit: Well I see his post still says 50:1. To be honest I didn't see the poll thing till I answered and scrolled to the top but I thought it said the same thing maybe it didn't.

    Cool about the red armor.
    Good to know.
I have some Husqvarna 2 cycle kicking around...I bought a bit when I first got into cutting, and I think someone gave me some (husband died or something), and then a friend bought me a gallon jug of the stuff (Husqvarna). If I use a quart a year of the 2 cycle (for 10 to 12G/yr) I'm set for a few years I reckon.

I but a 6 pack of mix oil in the fall and another in the spring. In the 11-15 gallon group. Saw work, I do a lot of weed eating, and about a gallon of mix in the leaf blower.

I'm right about 4+ gallons a year. I didn't include my leaf blower and I only use that maybe 10 minutes every lawn cutting. between my saws and the weed whacker I'm a good 4 gallons. I'm a big Lucas 2 stroke oil fan. Have had GREAT luck with this oil, I've put some hard hours on a couple saws, Jug and piston looks like new in my 029 Supers...

The title says nothing about the ratio but when you read his post it does mention 50-1. But the question is still about how much 2 cycle fuel do you use in a year.
I would never use 50 to 1 mix. I think that is just EPA misinformation and it is not good for a lot of 2 stroke engines.

Do you guys think oil goes bad in a reasonable amount of time?

I have some sealed little Echo bottle in the shed from 10 years or so ago. Still good?

10 years no I don't think it's bad. I would sked it really good if it were me me and then use it. That's also still a modern oil in that many years. Now if it were 35 years old I probably would use it in my diesel fuel for the tractor as a mix to help lube the injection pump at like 250:1 or something. In that time oil technology has improved and for the age and the cost of stuff I don't think it would be worth $6-20 worth of two stroke oil.

Im zero expert, I dont think motor oil goes bad or rancid. I gould see some of the addatives separating perhaps, maybe.
I'll shake my jugs before pouring, and if it doesn't look right, I'll bring it to the farm for tractor/excavator use and clemsonfor said.

Your correct it doesn't go bad, but it can separate out, and not being a chemist or tribologist I am not sure if there is a process to get some of the additives to suspend in the solution that is beyond just shaking the jug.

I know I mentioned it. But not sure if we count boat mix gas? But anyway like I said we boat but I don't use a ton of fuel every year. But I use about a gallon of TWC3 oil a year.

Pretty close to 12 gal of premix every year for the saws, blower and string trimmer….i know because I refill 12 of the one gallon Stihl oil bottles every fall from my gallon jug of oil to try to save a couple bucks.

I probably use around 10 gallons of mix in a year. I do far more cutting in the fall and throughout the winter, dont like cutting in the heat.

Cutting season through weed eating season I went through 15gal which I mixed myself. After that I switched to the Husky fuel or Red Armor 1 gal cans because it lasts longer. I go through two or three gal of the expensive stuff.

I choose 7-10. Normally go through 2 of the bottles that are good for 5 gallons of mix. This will probably go up though as the 2095 I picked up this year is a thirsty old girl.

I make two gallons at a time. Stihl 40:1 silver bottle. I used to write a date on the gas can when i filled it. Averaged out to six weeks per two gallons. Havent done that in recent months though. 16-20 gallons. Includes what i use in my handheld leaf blower.
