My brother has a Kubota, I think it is model bx2350 and it does not have a front end loader. Does anyone know if it's reasonably doable to add one? He bought it new about ten years ago but I don't think his tractor has any controls for it. Would it be cost prohibitive such that you might as well just find another tractor? He uses it in his large veggie garden and I could use it with firewood, we are neighbors.

He has a mower deck, which he never uses anymore, I guess he doesn't think it cuts great for a lawn look. His tractor has hydrostatic transmission and he also has a box blade and a rear scoop and a roto-tiller cultivator and a big plow. If need be, I could help him sell the tractor and mower deck. And cultivator. (He wants a different cultivator implement, I forget what it's called, the look about the same to me.) In an ideal world, find the same model tractor or maybe one step above, with FEL, with ag tires; his tractor has lawn turf tires, not good for garden!

My neighbor has a bx something with a FEL. I would think a Kubota dealer would be able to set him up.

I already know that this tractor had FEL as an option when new. My point was to ask if it's reasonable to add one after the fact. Somebody told me or I read somewhere that it's more like "Forget it, it will be far too expensive to add one if your tractor did not come with the controls." But there are countless people who know more than me about tractors, this is why I asked. Whomever I got that from might have been off base.

The other option being sell his tractor and buy another one that has FEL on it. Both of us are up in age and could pull this off financially, we just don't want to do something stupid, lol. For instance, if his tractor is worth, say, $5k to $8k (I don't know), adding a FEL for $3k to $5k (I don't know what it would cost, just guessing), that might not be such a good idea?

if you can't get a Kubota FEL, perhaps an aftermarket company may have one. I know Woods has made aftermarket loaders-I'm sure there are other companies.

Typically its not worth it to try and add one to a tractor if it didn't come with one. The dealers don't give them away, and want even less to do with tearing into a used machine to add the brackets and supports in order to add the loader, let alone the hydraulics. They usually come from the factory with all of the stuff needed for a loader already installed.

This doesn't mean it can't be done, but its not common. Its easier and money ahead to trade tractors for one with a loader. Maybe he can find one with a bad engine or some other issue for cheap, and swap it over in a garage, might be worth it then.

My suggestion is go to a Kubota dealer and enquire. Have the model and serial number in hand. Asking is free outside of some fuel to drive there.

I would be cautious about adding a one size fitz'=all aftermarket one.

Things like this are rarely , if ever , bolt on and "go".
Not saying it can't be done but chances are you will have to get creative in one way or another.
