I haven't checked in here much this year. As everyone I get busy and other projects etc. I need to make more time to check in and hang out here. A lot of it is I watch more YouTube now and where I use to be here reading I am watching folks j follow more now on YouTube. Anyway this last year or two so I haven't gone as good as I wanted on firewood. But the last bit I have made a better effort and got the large shed full and now I just have to pack the small shed, hopefully before the end of the year. The last few years have not been hard winters and cause I have burned less than I thought I also wasn't as driven. But I need to get wood under cover to dry, rather have it and not need it. I missed this whole summer to have more wood drying in the heat, but honestly other than a few weeks this really has not been that hot of a summer for us. Finally a few pics cause we all like pics.
Probably not as much as it could. The pics looking at the shed are from down my drive. It's open maybe 300-400 yards in front of the shed. It has to filter between two houses down my drive between my house and that privacy fence. It's open on the back. The neighbors planted some cedar type trees where there property cuts behind mine that will probably block some wind. On the right side it's open to the drive as well so air can blow through it. The side along the privacy fence has a wall all the way to the ground. I got that shed like 7 years ago. It made more sense to pay for that carport to be built that me buy material and try to build something myself. I have only seen a few folks on here use them as wood sheds. swags was another, but I can't think of any others...maybe Backwoods Savage neighbor they split for had one if I remember right? I also have a smaller shed that I stack about 3-4 cords in. As far as how much I burn...that's probably around 3-3.5 cords a year.
You probably burn about as much wood as we do then. Yes, I put wood in the shed but usually just enough to get through the winter. I've so far got only less than half of that in the shed but will work on it little by little, especially now with the weather cooling a bit.
I let it dry in the shed and then pull from the shed when I need it. I keep about two years in this shed and the other shed , the smaller one, keeps a year in it. I don't really have any place out of the way to stack out of a shed besides down the fence to the left and it always falls over there and don't get it covered well. Plus I don't like moving wood any more than I need too, hence put it in the shed to dry.
