I am so incredibly grateful that my daughter and I's YouTube channel just hit 100 subscribers!!! I know several of you have subscribed and follow the channel, thank you so much for your support. This is the link to our 100 sub special video!
YouTube is SO easy isn't it? I'm learning DaVinci Resolve now. Premiere Pro has gotten way too glitchy, not to mention, they raised their annual subscription price this year. DaVinci is way more powerful but has a steep learning curve. It's growing on me.
Haha. You know the game. Everyone thinks it is who have never tried it. I’ve never purchased any editing software. I edit all my videos from my phone with IMovie. I did recently break down and got some nice Rode II wireless mics though. Hoping to improve my sound quality as I have a lot of outdoor videos and videos with multiple people taking at once.
Good investment, audio is key! I learned that 22 years ago when a production company did a video I was involved in. They said people will forgive a shot that isn't exactly right. Audio might have them turning away.
Definitely! I sub many outdoor and gardening channels and tune in to videos often. I have YouTube on many hours per day, especially when driving, (I just listen when driving). If its not clear and at a good volume, i just move to something else.
One of the things I find the toughest to edit is talking volumes with multiple speakers. Sounds dumb, but everyone talks at different volumes. With a fluid conversation its not too easy to cut with such small breaks between words. I'm hoping the microphones help.
You almost need a mixer with multiple mics. That would give you control over each mic. That is how it is done in TV news studios. BTDT
In Resolve, and Premiere for that matter, you can cut the audio tracks and adjust volume on each cut pretty easily. I don't have other people on screen talking with me yet, so mine is just matter of toning down machine volumes and my voice if recorded on another camera closer than the primary. Also, I think there's an option to limit "peaking" to a certain value. Once I figure it out, my limit on vocals from the Lav mic will be -6.00db for my voice. Until then I set as many segments as I remember. Sometimes a few un-adjusted frames slip through.
Thanks man! It's been a lot of work. I'm up over 200 videos at this point. Between filming, editing, networking, uploading, posting, answering comments and questions, etc, it's like a part time job. I'd say easily 20-25 hours a week. I really enjoy it though, so it's worth it to me. I'd love to do it full time some day. My full time day job pays well, but I really don't enjoy it. Plus its an hour commute each way, which sucks. Just keep grinding, and you'll reach your goals in time
