There are 2 drive ins within 10 miles of me. I guess the one that’s in a more populated area used to put up adult movies late night back in the day. That must have been something:eek:

Just a couple years ago. One here closed back in the 80s opened back up. We went once. Same as I remember. It didn’t open this year.

There is still an A & W in Middlebury, VT and I think it's the last one in the state.

I’ve been to middlebury quite a few times, never saw it. Used to go to New Brunswick and go to Swiss chalet’s, good ribs. The last Howard Johnson restaurant was 15 minutes from here, we are actually heading out next door to it to Ground Round for beer and burgers with some friends.

I remember going to one of those on LI as a kid. Don’t live there anymore so no idea if it’s still there- Port Jefferson area.

Just got home, last time we went half the crew had quit and very limited menu and most of that was sold out. This time the remaining crew that has been there for years were nowhere to be found, had an extra large waitress that kept calling me hun, sweetie, and babe. Her tip was tiny. Lot larger menu but food wasn’t great and no longer serve endless popcorn. We had stopped in Augusta last spring at that one, first and last time for that one. Poor GR is gone to hell, used to eat there weekly.

My daughter asked me today what I used to do for fun in the town I lived in as a teenager.
I told her I had a 3 wheeler, I walked the ditches collecting aluminum cans for money, I walked around picking scuppernongs and persimmons.
She was on her way to the mall.

One of my favorite movies, as teens we lived the lifestyle. Hunting, fishing, exploring the big woods. Hence the name NH mountain man. We still call ourselves mountain men by the fire. "Skin that one pilgrim and I'll get you another!"

Just the soundtrack gets me excited in the fall! One of my favorite movies ever produced, I watch it several times a year.

The movie is an annual tradition at deer camp here. Along with playing cards, drinking, Gordy's "Five bean surprise" casserole (the surprise comes a bit later after you've eaten it) and the occasional hunter tagging a deer!

The first time I saw the movie was in a theatre when it was released and remember thinking that there wasn't much dialogue.

The second week of deer camp and all the guys are here. We drink, play card and shoot the bull but never shoot no deer...

Talking about drive in theatres. During Covid partial shutdowns, our local theatre obtained a pop-up drive in theatre. I am not quite sure how it works but the screen assembly is blown up by air and you listen to the sound over your car radio. It was quite popular and they still advertise the occasional pop up event in our different communities.
