When we sold my parents house years ago I mentioned to the new homeowners that I suspected someday that big red oak would come down and crush the shed. Ima regular Clair Voyant! They called me a few weeks ago and told me it happened, and that I could have the wood if I wanted to cut it up and haul it away. I have taken today off from work to initiate that mission.
Hoard on!! Too bad they didn't ask you to fell the tree away from the shed. I'm collecting for 27/28 .
Making progress. It's a mess! I also learned that nicking roof shingles with your chain dulls it fast - it's not the nails (I missed those) but the ground up gravel/stone ballast in the shingles.
This is the remainder of the tree that still stands. I've also been given permission to take that down and haul it away. That work will be in the future (I call that vertical firewood).
Amazing the damage a tree can cause. Nice that they contacted you for the wood...always good to have connections when youre a hoarder. This was a shed destroyed by a huge red oak. Tornado May 2018. I got the big rounds the following Winter. Homeowner was fighting with insurance company. The concrete pilings were driven several inches into the ground from the impact.
