We'd not be having this conversation if that was the case. I'd have have new neighbors there.

Got some mowing done today. And started working on leveling off an area behind the pond I need to get done so it can be mowed easily with brush hog 4 or 5 times a year. It was left rough when doing a lot of work in that area last year. Time to get everything back there leveled off nice so I’m not bouncing all over the place when brush hogging. Some areas on trails I’m trying to raise up are too wet after the last two rains we have had. So I just left them. I’ll wait for a dry spout. Which doesn’t look like it will be anytime soon.:picard:Better than not having water though.

On another note, we had a good, relaxing evening. Dinner at brother and sister-in-law’s house and then sat on their front porch and bullchitted for a while and ate ice cream cones. Maple Walnut.

I wouldn't have driven there myself, but having someone else drive was perfect. The zoo is 265 acres and there were only a few places that you could tell you were in the middle of the city from the sound of traffic.

Amazon sent me an email informing me that my Kindle Fire is going to "expire" at the end of this month. That means, although I can still read off it, I can't download books directly off the net. I knew the thing was old, and have been playing with the idea of getting a newer one, but didn't realize I have had it since 2011 (first generation).

Sure, I could download to my computer, transfer to a memory stick, then transfer to the kindle, but that doesn't work so well when I'm not around my computer (like on a bus going to the Bronx zoo - LOL). I'll have to see if they come up with a good deal, or I can find a refurb. Although I don't think they are all that expensive, so new may be the way to go. Actually it would be nice to get one that I don't struggle as much to read in the sunlight - and here is my excuse.

Part of it sounds good but I really do not like cities. I'd rather be alone in the woods.

Helped a neighbor last evening when his atv starter decided to not work. No problem towing him.

Lucky you with getting rain, it has been missing our area so things are getting dry but August usually is.

Cut a lot of grass today with the Troy Bilt Mustang Zero Turn. A few days ago I had my neighbor fix the deck again and I bought a new set of blades and asked him to install them when he fixed it. WOW! What a difference. Cuts like it is a new mower now.

I hope so, most of the systems have either gone north or south of us lately.

Another good meal for dinner tonight. My wife made Chicken Chili and her and the kids ate it for lunch. I was working on stuff so had it for din-din. A good, tasty recipe she found. Then her and youngest went and got us all Flurries from Nadine's Ice Cream after her practice. I had a large Peanut Butter Cup and Oreo. Needless to say, my shorts are feeling tighter.

We didn't get any of that, just heat. Tomorrow we're supposed to get rain again though. Had we not gotten that nearly 4" of rain about a week or so ago, we'd be really hurting. The grass was starting to get crispy and was nearly in brown out dormant stage.

Tonight Accu has us getting over an inch of rain on that day, usually that total will drop before Thursday arrives.

Send some of that rain this way. I think we got all of a tenth of an inch in the past couple weeks. It spits for a minute or two, then nothing. Even when they predict it you know it isn’t coming. Now they are predicting rain, showers and T-storms from Friday through next Thursday. We will see what happens. Saw more remnants of grass fires today along interstate 84. Haven’t seen that in many years.

I hope you get some good rains, up here August is usually really dry, hopefully that changes.

A nice steady rain for about two or three days would be nice instead of just one day of heavy rain.

The contractors are working on replacing the old stone wall that was much later capped with concrete and eventually, slowly fell apart along the Oswegatchie River near the mouth of the St. Lawrence River. Just below the dam. An inch plus of rain will probably slow them down for a while. They have some large equipment down there and are using an excavator to pound steel in and make a temporary dam where they work to keep the water back. Making progress. Will be nice when completed. New interlocking concrete block wall being put in.
