We were into serious sailing and the GSDs were not. We would get a dogsitter (campinspecter 's brother) to come and stay at the house with them for our long trips away. When Romeo was hot and was laying outside in the cockpit panting, the whole boat would vibrate from his panting. Taking them to the beach meant two trips - one for the dogs and one for me. It was the same coming back. Having all four of us in the dingy was a real adventure. Neither dog liked the dingy trips.

After Romeo died and Juliet started to have a hard time getting around, we went with a smaller dog to go sailing with us. campinspecter thought Rascal needed a small companion who he could play with. The second dog (Cricket) had some health issues and we didn't think she was going to make it so we got another dog (Shadow) for the first one to play with. Cricket lived to be 12 and we lost her last year. Going sailing with three small dogs was quite the adventure especially getting them to the beach as they would not do their business on the boat. They are not swimming dogs, so we were always on the watch for a possible dog overboard. Thankfully it only happen once for each dog and we were at the dock.

Puppy has been sleeping a bit more consistent now. 11:00 to first light....maybe 5:00-5:30 ish. One thing is certain, if he is awake....the whole household should be awake!

Two "accidents" this past week. It had been close to two weeks accident free until then, But, in his defense, we were gone to a funeral service.

Thank God, our 1/2 tame barn cat showed up tonight, she's not been home in almost 2 weeks. She's disheveled and her abdomen is sunk in :( All we can think of is that she was locked in someone's vacation cabin or garage? She's home, eating, and drinking and laying on her bed.

This feller is such a joy to have around. He’ll rest his head in my hand and stay there as long as I can hold out.

After being out with me splitting all morning, he was anxious to come inside.

They do that. Now, there's a couple questions that come next. Do you tell/ ask them to move when you want to sit down? And if you do, will they?

Roscoe is very obedient, unless there’s a rabbit or groundhog in his sights. Then it takes 2-3 yells to stop him, lol. He was very well trained w/ previous family.

Good deal. It's the whole alpha thing that they need to understand. There's a family heirarchy.

Been a long while since we lost Giz... meet Mia. She's a 125 lb beast of a dog... :heidi:... :picard: (more like 5.5 lbs)
We thought we were over pups, after 5 in 29 years. Heard about 21 papillons rescued from a puppy mill here in Maine and... well, ya know...
