Being a landscaper by trade we have the occasional small tree job. Today was one of those days. Not much but I will take it. Boss even told me to stop by the house and drop it off. Cherry tree 12" dbh +\- Also took down 3 smaller Hawthorne trees (no pics) The haul I didn't drop off at a chipping site.
Tomorrow I "should" be trimming an oak with about a foot diameter multi trunks 15 foot long or so. Was also a little oak and honey locust mixed with mainly cherry and Hawthorne in the "pile" pic. On a side note. I was sent to this job site with a gas stihl pole saw, silky pole saw, and a 192T.
I don't have any stack that has another species mixed in currently. More than likely I will start stacking oak, honey locust, and mulberry together in the future because of their extended drying times. Everything else around here dries fairly quickly. Cherry,pine,cotton,elm,catalpa, few cedars, and whatnot.
I went home and Grabbed my 028 to do the stump and bucking on the cherry. Any addition to the stacks I get paid to cut and take is a good day in my book.
The guy that took down my bradford pear said he gets paid to take wood home too. He works for a smaller tree company with a great reputation around here. He was saying the best part is after 15 years at the company, he was about 5 years ahead and can be extremely picky. He said all he takes now are nice oak rounds and locust. Must be nice..lol.. He did have a big sigh of relief when I told him I wasn't burning that tree this year - he's a three year minimum plan guy.
Gathering wood generates a lot of little expenses man, getting paid to help others clean up every now and then is a good deal!
