We recently heard rumors of a cougar sighting locally as well and not the one teenage boys dream about either. Lol.

This little guy was found on our deck one morning as my other half was walking out the door to go to work. She closed the door and then heard a "thump-thump".....she turned around and there was this little guy standing no more than 5' from her! She quickly went inside and grabbed her camera.

Bears, like all wild animals are opportunists. If they find an easy food source, they take advantage of i. Why forage for food when a refuse can is handy.

I see posts on fb almost daily about bears. We have quite a few around here. I usually see 4-7 per year, I haven't seen any this year yet? I did see a cougar last year on my way to work about daylight.

Not too common around here in SE Mass, so when one does wander down (usually from the western part of the state, where they are quite common) it definitely makes the news. With all the cameras in yards and so many yards, it gets fairly well tracked.

Right now, it's sharks in the news. Comically sometimes as if they are something new.

We had someone shoot a “huge coyote” 20 years ago here. He called the wardens, why, nobody knows. They said they’d never seen a yote that big before and took it. The game biologist took almost 3 years to determine it was a wolf. The. They arrested the guy that shot it and charged him with killing an endangered species. Bet he never opened his mouth again. We also had a mountain lion right around my house. I had tracks in mid from where I had just dug up a new drainage ditch. My dad saw it a couple times on the road. He mentioned it to a game warden and the answer was there’s none here but I really wish someone would run it over for evidence.

I look at it this way..They were all here before us and will be after we aren't here anymore so I prefer to give them their space.

We have a little one running around, probably 100 125 pounds. I can’t get a picture of him because puppy chases him right away. Seen his paw prints in mud..

Looks like something from a bad 1950's horror flick.

About 10 years or so there was a young roaming around in Battle Creek.
So what does the local law enforcement do? They shoot it after it got up a tree!
That really ticked me off, there was no reason that they couldn't wait for the DNR to come to tranquilze it and relocate it.

Typical local LE. Why so much bad happens with them. It's a terrible job in the first place. Low pay, high risk and no rewards (except maybe free doughnuts and coffee at the local doughnut shop. I carry a firearm constantly but I don't discharge it for no reason and that was not a viable reason.
