I only split when it's below 70 degrees.

Mornings are the best part of the day.

A couple hours of hand splitting is enough.

That’s oppressive heat! We don’t get many days over 100. Fortunately I have shade to work in, but it’s still slow going in the summer between heat humidity and bloodsuckers.

I hope your dog is handling the heat OK also.

He hasn't slowed down at all. He does drain the water bowl more frequently though.

That looks like some good "screw that" weather when it comes to processing wood!

Can't blame you for not working in the heat.
Kind of in a holding pattern myself.

Plenty to split and also mill but it is just too hot.
I have gone to plan " B " and that is work more at second job.
Shop is air conditioned so why not. Try to stay cool and make a little extra at the same time.

I try real hard to avoid hoarding in those temps. If I have to get a good score, it'll sit piled up in rounds till the heat breaks. :dennis:

Don't blame you one bit, that is hot. I try not to scrounge in the summer BUT I find that summer has some really good scrounging and I have more time since I am off on Fridays. I usually just scrounge, store, and split in cooler weather

I don't like heat AT ALL. Unfortunately wood doesn't CSS itself. I typically cut early on Saturday morning this time of year. Generally I split more toward evening, probably twice a week. I often set up a canopy in the driveway and park the splitter under it. I also use a fan to make it more bearable. If it's under 90, I'll probably go for it. Plenty of ice water on hand.

Lotsa electrolyte drinks and water. Hoarding doesnt stop for heat. But it does slow down, more breaks, a little more relaxed.
    Sweating is healthy.
No physical ill effects thus far.

Invite T.Jeff Veal over. Those are ideal conditions for him to make firewood in! :D

Not a fan of heat and humidity either. Did half day cutting and hauling earlier this week and paid for it that night. It was mostly shaded and breezy too.

I'm not handling it as good as I used to...lol...
We have had a few days over 100°, but wasn't bad humid.
This was probably our worst day, so far 0706222030.jpg
We have a big clearing job to finish, so not much choice some days. But when we can CSS at home, we try to work at night. 0715222229_HDR.jpg

Our forecast looks just like that OK forecast only drier. 100F today and up to 105F in a couple days. I work outside in the morning but the cutting and splitting is done until October. Summer is for inside jobs, like reno the laundry room/mud room. Today I demo'd the closet. Not a huge project, some sheetrock, some electrical, lighting, new fan, custom cabinets, counter top, sink and flooring. Should keep my weekends busy for a bit. I still have to make my cuts outside and I'm constantly walking to and from my shop for tools.

It varies between 40-75%. Sometimes the heat index will be 15* higher than the actual temp. And sometimes it's not bad at all. It's Oklahoma, if you don't like the weather just wait 5 minutes. It'll change.
