strangely enough I just used my trailer to cook some wood in that fashion. It will work if you do a small enough quantity. My buddy who milled my log splitter blade for me wanted to see it do it’s first test so I invited him up. The only rounds I had were in a scrap pile of wood that was too old. Mostly maple that was punk junk. There were a few rounds of red oak in there with good heart wood but punky sapwood. Anyway I was showing him my tree of heaven pile that I never used and wanted moved. Told him he could have it for free and the red oak. About three weeks ago I got around to it. I knew it was all going into his small woodshed and I know that small woodshed gets very little sun, if any. Spread that layer of wet oak with punky spots ina single layer on my trailer and left it for a day in the full sun on a warm day. It cooked pretty darn good. Not perfect but pretty dang good. I could see chips cooking out in an afternoon as long as they’re not green to begin with.
