The Wood Wolverine will enjoy this…..
A customer of the place I work is going to spend close to $2,000 to have me rip-rap the river bank that is threatening this elm tree. Now, granted, he is also going to keep from losing real estate, but, when looking at the job, he never mentioned that. He’s just worried about that elm tree getting washed out and ending up in the river. 648C09A8-5F4A-44EE-8B20-4D0869F29171.jpeg 71DBB659-1405-48A1-90EB-B61266A6D479.jpeg
There’s also a neat little grove of ash trees nearby that you can see in the first picture to the left of the elm. Many of them don’t look too good/healthy. Ill be keeping an eye on them for the next couple years.

Across the river spent extra on a bulkhead, I see those more at the coast, or urban river front.
I’d want to save a good shade tree too.

You helped pay for the bulkhead, that’s national forest on that side! Customer lives about 1/4 mile upstream and across the river. So not even a shade tree in his yard, just a tree in a pasture. I guess it probably gives some shade to his livestock

    That’s 3 I believe. 1 & 2 are re-enriching the soil and cutting cookies. :rootintootin:

That’s a big elm! It’s rare I see one of that size around here, save for a handful of old city trees treated regularly with fungicide.
