After temps near 100F a few days ago....Got up this morning to a cold house.

65 F in the shack....Tossed a fire in the little stove to get the chill off....

July fires are definitely not unheard of around here....But not too many.
We may see the AC on later...but currently it is cool and cloudy outside.

Not very well, I might have to call on a real swimming instructor, my pupils all drown.

An update on my Snow Cat Project...

Last summer saw a lot of work done...A complete redesign of the front axle assembly...from a single tube type axle with rubber torsion suspension.
The original axle was in real bad shape.....Tube bent, patched up poorly and the torsion elements were TRASH

I cannibalized the spindle ends off the original axle and went from there to produce an independent unit for each side with an air bag suspension setup....

The replacement of the original single seat " Groomer cab " with a cab from a Standard cab S10 pickup.......
The cab was going to be OK....Still only a 2 seater..

WE NEEDED THE " FAMILY MODEL"+
With modifications already made to mount the S 10 pickup cab complete it was going to be a real plus to stick with a similar year/body style vehicle...

Back in November I was able to score a pretty decent little 1991 S10 BLAZER 4 DOOR 4X4 ....This poor little rig had been used as a Dingy at one time in it's life....(Had a
tow bar mount added up front and the necessary wiring to do that)

We are actually the 3rd owners.....
Body is straight....A bit dirty....but not thrashed.

The good weather now has motivated getting the little Blazer torn apart..../the body off the frame (4x4 chassis will be sold complete)

Currently (Yesterday) the body is jacked up off the frame, the front fenders, hood and core support (Front clip) are removed......
Wiring all unhooked from the engine to allow the body to come off......

I will use all the original wiring as it makes the "Re-purposing" really easy.....

The Blazer has everything needed to serve well.....Complete lighting, wipers, heat, electric windows, electric door locks.....Anyway...THE CREATURE COMFORTS

The next step is to get the body lifted off the chassis.......

Slow process.....But well worth the time as opposed to building a custom body from scratch.....

A scratch built cab is very labor intense and $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ much

Update: 5 tree rats and 4 chipmunks eating peanuts while the birds enjoy sunflower seeds. Happily coexisting with only a few chipmunk wreslin matches! :p

We scatter sunflower seeds and cracked corn under the feeds for the turkeys too, But they took today off and are debugging the neighbors field. Baby downy wood pecker has been hoggin the suet giving mom/dad a break from feeding him. Literally at the feeder ever 5 minutes! Lil piggy! :)

A cheap 5 pound bag a month. Maybe 6 bucks? Going by what we used to do at the lake house, If we got rid of 1(trapped-not allowed to kill as there is an off season during the summer months anyway), Another just took their place. So tossing out a bit of peanuts and proofing the feeders as best we can to keep them off. They get by and we coexist per say.

No Woodchucks/ground hogs. Coyotes must think they'r tastey??

I am up against what used to be a 100 acre woodlot that was actively cut now it is owned by a land conservation trust and not cut. It is crawling with rodents I keep them down a bit and so do several others. Trap and release aint allowed except on your own land, which is pointless.

Got our pellets delivered from East Coast Lumber in Hampstead this morning. They called before they arrived, put 2 of them right into our shed-in-a-box, great service. Body a little sore from re stacking the 3rd pallet on top of the others after but a hot shower and some Advil after is helping.

Went down to Woodsom Farm in Amesbury, MA for fireworks on the 4th. Great spot as they use a 400 ft x 1200 ft field for viewing. Field slopes up that 400' so it's like stadium seating, fireworks launch across the street. Nice breeze kept the bugs at bay. Good band, Way Up South (mix of southern rock, country rock). Not many food vendors as in the past (we've been going for 15+ years) figured that was a combo of supply chain and fuel costs. Only had 5 port-a-pottys for close to a 1000 people (years past it was around a dozen), long lines.
Traffic still a nightmare after with all those vehicles on tiny back roads but even then it's only a 15-20 min ride for us.

Understandable, We deal with them in our own ways!! We can't kill in our area and or discharge firearms(not enough land). We could trap, But aren't allowed to release unless its done with appropreate promition on state land or private land.
