Transmission in my car has been making some bearing noise for a few months now . General Motors does not service this transmission… no parts, replacement only. Now, at my cost of $3600… not going to happen. Found parts in The UK…. $260 for the bearing kit …. Let the fun begin.
But, at leased, you are blessed by having the ability to know the problem. And to be able to work on it, fix it and, be able to eventually repair it. 99 percent would get rid of it, move on to a more expensive fix. Buy another car!
A stick shift! There's something you don't see anymore! Is that a proprietary bearing, or you just didn't want to wait to get it apart to see what # it is? Years ago I was just dumb enough to buy a Dodge Caravan with a bad trans bearing (4 cyl/5 speed if you can believe that!) But I got lucky in that I was able to replace all the bad parts (couple gears and bearings) without even removing the trans! Local trans shop was able to get all the parts I needed piece meal. Good luck ND...hope it goes well and you still have time to relax this weekend!
Might have been able to source bearings, but wasn’t to comfortable with that . There is no stock on kits in the USA.
A gift until everyone wants you to fix their broken stuff. Some serious spalling on that bearing. I take it this not your first rodeo. Hope you can finish the weekend on a high note.
Well, with Nitrodave as your username, I always figured you were a gearhead. But that subject seldom surfaces here.
Yup…. Alcohol Funny cars, Top Fuel Dragsters, GT3 sport car racing…. Guess you could call me a gearhead.
Believe it my parents had 3 of those SOBS. Dad was a firm believer in stick shifts and the 2.2 was chosen because of 70s gas prices.. plus it hauled kids…
Shirley Muldowney was one of my favorite racers growing up. I've always felt that it doesn't matter who you are, if you can compete, you should. Of course John Force is legend, and I believe one of his daughters, or grand-daughter, just broke a track record. Man, I miss my youth. I applaud yor skill set.
All done …. and no leftover parts …. I sure do miss my old shop… this crawling around on the ground is not for faint of heart….
