I mounted the upper light facing upwards, as it provides more lighting, although diffused.. The primary work light on my "highly" improvised work area. Thanks for all the inspiration and financial support everyone. You're an awesome group of enablers.
So, got a chain grinder this week. Got it mounted and ran one chain through, still got more to learn to do it properly. But, the chain still cut very well. I'm outta logs.. Some splitting and stacking in the near future.. Getting there slowly but surely.
Well, I've finally got my lazy butt in gear. Took the week off from the day job to get some wood put up. Cut from the woodpile on Saturday, CSS on Sunday. Then worked the woodpile a light bit yesterday, and CSS today. Sunday.. Tonight.. Doing 2 single row stacks to aid with airflow, since I've put this off FAR to long. All additional wood will go on a 3rd rack yet to be built. Still a lot of work to be done,
Tecomec Super Jolly, 120V w/hydraulic clamp. It's about the equivalent of the Oregon 620-120 model, but a tad cheaper. Supposedly made by same manufacturer, just different brand name. It works well, still making minor mistakes, but haven't ruined any chains as of yet.
Worked the logpile again today. Got most of the large logs out, as they will be the wettest. Unfortunately, my back isn't a fan of the large, wet, heavy rounds. After these it's mostly all smalls, some that the bark has peeled off. I have some up here, but they are at the back of the pile. Was overcast and cool today. Next couple of days are forecast for 89°
So, my other brother calls me around 4, asks what time I'll be home. Already am. OK, be there shortly. Tomorrow is hos last day at Dresser Rand/Siemens Energy. They are clearing out the plant, and he brought me a locker. "Can you use this?" He asked as it was sitting in the bed of his truck. "Umm yeah, I think I can find a use for it." He made no promises, but if there any more tomorrow, I'll get another visit. It sucks he's losing his job of ~14 yrs. Previous employer also got out by a German company, Henkel. They shut that down as well, he had a bit more than 14 there. He's not so enamored with German based companies for some strange reason. Edit.. Already making use of storage space.
Dresser Rand was a gas/petroleum based company. Made compressors for the oil industry, and was the last one "that I've been told", that had authorization for high pressure gas test in in the US I'm not as knowledgeable as others on the subject. I think once the company employed over 800, but that was many years ago. Staffing I heard has been roughly 1/2 that since around 80's'ish. Siemens decided they wanted to concentrate on "green" renewable energy, so they are shuttering the place. I have other comments I could make, but it won't change a dam thing.
SKEETER McCLUSKEY On the brighter side of things, he says there's an Italian corp. interested in the facility, they are in line to build the new Buff Bills stadium, and they will potentially be opening up as least as many jobs that have been lost. Hope it all works out. Thx for checkin in on my thread.
BTW, I do thank ALL of the members that have taken the time to post and/or offer advice. I just got to thinking the way I ended the response to Skeeter, that it definitely would read "awkward".
Chaz , sorry your brother lost his job. Remember, when one door closes, another will open. I wish him good luck in the future.
