Introducing the STIHL MS 400 C-M1 Gasoline-Powered Chain Saw

Designed for the most demanding tree care and forestry professionals, the STIHL MS 400 C-M has a magnesium alloy piston, a first in the chain saw industry. This magnesium alloy piston provides 13 percent greater displacement2, increased power and more torque without adding additional weight. This chain saw also includes STIHL M-Tronic™ engine technology to deliver low-emission, fuel-efficient performance under all operating conditions. Its lifetime HD2 air filter means you simply clean it instead of replacing it, while a pre-separation system removes large debris before it even gets to the air filter, thus increasing run time between cleanings.

    MSRP: $869.99 w/ 20” guide bar and chain3

1Pictured above with optional lightweight guide bar.

2As compared to the STIHL MS 362 C-M.

3Prices may vary and are subject to change.

I might have to do some rethinking about the new chainsaw i wanted, since the $600 we got and not the $2000 wanted it puts both my planned Stihl saws a little out of my reach.

That's interesting, being brand new design, but I think I would probably just opt for the 462 CM instead, just in case, there's still bugs to work out. And I always like to see some kind of track record first.
Plus it's close enough to 70 cc that I would want the option for a longer then 25" guide bar, so I would question the oiler for one thing, because the 362 is a bit stingy with oil delivery, and I suspect since the bar length recommendation is the same did they throw the oiler from the 362 in there, instead of the better oiling 462.

Just my thoughts as I have both. Probably a non issue for most people.

I’m going to have to hold off on getting the 261c that I’ve wanted for awhile. Looks like the 400i is almost a do it all saw! What’s it 1 lb heavier than a 261? Wonder when the 300i will come out?

Oh boy! I have a 260 and a 461-that would fit right in the middle!

I have a 460 and a 261. My 361 KINDA fits in the middle. The 400i would take up the extra room! :saw:

    Current price: $1,059.99.

It would be logical to take it as soon as possible. It looks like the price will increase in the future:picard:
