    I'm starting to see that here too. Tree work has slowed considerably as people prioritize other purchases. I also don't see near the number of saw log loads going down the main highway as I did in years past. I think the lumber boom has waned for the time being. I can source all my own logs, but it costs time, and that's a commodity I'm the short on.

    Yeah, I cut my own for the home, but don't feel I have enough land to sell my own wood.

    I don’t have much experience with oak, but even with the bark falling off I’d guess it would need at least a year and a half of drying time in my locale after splitting

    Yes, I'll be splitting most with Hydro. I tried a few and some went fine and some didn't. Not gonna try anymore

    I haven't done a ton of elm but what I did gave me pretty much the same outcome , some good and some not so good.
    Then there were the pieces that would just rip in half and looked like you tried to split a piece of rope from a tug-boat.
    Great burning though.
