Take good care and have bug out bags ready if it jumps boundries. 70% contained the next day is serious progress compared to the wildfires I've seen.

I don't remember how old your daughter is.. We brought a stroller and play pen but what I really needed was the Bjorn or back pack carrier.

I've been through 2 each grasshopper and moth invasions (it was really bad riding my bike with the grasshoppers in the first one when I was young), but never this bad. Eeeew! Keep an extra bottle of washer fluid in you car? Or putty knife?

Thankfully the wind has been in our favor and pushed the fire away from us and mainly in a wooded area. The wind has switched this evening and we're now smelling smoke but without much fuel to burn back in this direction i have a good feeling that the forest fire service will get it under control.

Never thought bugs could be that much of an issue. Looks biblical.

We get big hatches of them along the Mississippi River and they even show up on local radar. Having them in large numbers means you have good water for them.

FINALLY got another load of white rock dropped yesterday. The driver said he got the last bucket full loaded right off the conveyor belt because everything else at the pit was gone. Unreal. I need one more load...not sure how long that is going to but maybe by the weekend.

Got it all spread out last night and this morning. It's pretty thin in a lot of places but at least I have the dirt covered to cut down on mud getting tracked everywhere.

You know you are on a long drive when the GPS says, “Keep left at the fork for I-81 and continue for 527 miles”.

Driver just dropped 22.83 tons of #8 stone in my driveway. Lot of tractor time coming up...too bad I have to take my daughter to a CPR class tonight.
