I got my summer fill of #2 oil. The tank was showing a use of 3/8. It took all of 89.3 gallons at $5.19/gal.
I can live with burning less than 90 gallons for the winter heating season. Without burning wood, it would have cost an additional $2,600.00 plus. Makes it easier to justify more toys:thumbs:

Primary reason I started burning with wood was to save $$$. We would need to refill our tank at least every 3-4 weeks with our farmhouse. Closer to 3 weeks in jan and feb.
Havent gotten oil in 4 years. Avg 1/4 tank a year.

    Hoard and burn on!

The last year we burned oil it was
$2100 HHO, $500 Kerosene to space heat one room.
As of february this year, if we'd bought oil & kero
    $3300 HHO, $600 ish Kero
As of a couple days ago HHO @ $5.17/G
    $5170 HHO, $Sodomy for the kero....kept $70-100G on hand.

Not counting the electric to run the furnace.
Or all the many taxes we'd pay.

    Done with big oil.

I have not filled my propane tank yet so I do not know what they are going to get. Thank goodness it is only once a year.

That 2.600 dollars sure does justify all the work and tools it takes for firewood. Way to go.

We are electric on all appliances other than the LP furnace. Haven't filled it in many years. I do run it some in the fall and spring when a fire is just too much and to keep it working properly just in case. I absolutely love not having to fill that tank and I don't even like to hear the furnace run.

HHO - $5.50/gal here. We've filled our tank once in the last 6yrs.

    Hot water via propane.

Heating via a renewable resource is working for us.

I' sure happy we don't use heating oil. Reading about it brings back memories of my first house. It always hurt when they filled the tank but it was a bit less costly then at $0.12 per gallon.

My wife is totally on board with me "investing" in more toys to hoard farwood. We've been burning since '10 and have only filled our oil tank about 3-4 times since. It's really paid off over the years, especially in today's market.

Way back in 1972 I switched from propane to HHO. We were living in a mobile home and the tank was outside. We had to burn #1 oil and it cost 18.9 cents/gal. I would not want to buy #1 at todays prices.

In a similar situation here, except it is the neighbors I want to stay good with, and to a degree I dont want every square inch of yard to be wood piles.
I started looking for folks here who would let me store a few cord on their turf. It took some time, but I was able to make some arrangements. 4+ cord at a friends house, for whom I have been supplying cordwood for a few years!

Warm and cozy all the way. I have relatives in NOCAL, they are hot all summer and freeze all winter paying big bucks for both and this is before todays inflation... I'm scaling back complaining of challenges where I live, at this point in time I'm grateful we don't need A/C and grateful we can all sleep in the wood stove room if needed.

Spent about $3,000 in 2012 our first winter in our home to heat with heating oil. That led us to install a wood stove. Now the furnace runs only to take the chill out of the house when it’s too warm for the stove. Friends of ours converted to natural gas heat and gave us 3/4 of a tank of heating oil two years ago. Still have half a tank left which should last a couple years. Don’t plan on filling it any time soon due to prices.
