Very sad state of affairs isn't it. I don't see any end to the spiral until something changes. My son is lumbering his wood for his garage build. He is cutting trees on his property and has a saw mill to work them up in. Fascinating to watch him take a tree he cut and work it up into lumber. Most of the handling comes when he takes the boards off the mill.
I think what you are describing your son do is a great state of affair! I'm one that likes to look at the positives.
