How many zones are you doing, what btu did you choose and where will you purchase it? I researched the site and was ready to go but our budget changed.

Not sure yet. I too have budget restraints and I'm not 100% locked into Mr.Cool. I may just do a small 9k that will heat the bedroom and bath that the pellet stove has trouble heating without fans. The only oil I use is dhw and very cold mornings for the master bedroom and bath. Really do not want to use any oil. A 18k 2 head unit would cool the house (small ranch 1200 sq.ft. moderate insulation) and heat with the pellet stove.

I've seen them on Home Depot daily deals often (yesterday actually) but they are always only one zone, and I'd like 2. Good luck doggy and please post pics if you guys do it :)

The nice thing is that you can install the compressor you need (sized and designed to accept the amount of heads you will eventually install), but you can do each indoor head as your budget allows. Even the installation companies I talked to said a fair amount of people do that.

Unfortunately I don't have any experience with the DIY brands. But as gbreda said earlier, it seemed to be one of the DIY brands that was high on the list of better brands.

I installed a Mr. Cool DIY unit in my daughter's house 2 yrs ago. We installed a single zone 18K unit. Was fairly straight forward. No issues so far.

We checked out the AC a few weeks ago.

    Stove season is still going.
We ran the little stove all night again last night......Had the stove running until noon yesterday.

Since we have been in the place here at the ranch (Built the new house in 1993) we have NEVER needed to run the stoves this late into June...Usually we would be all done with daily fires....On rare occasions we would have a spot fire in the early morning after T storms or a deep marine push the night before...

    Ah well....

Heading over to the east coast, Don't worry your pellet stashes are safe :vulture: I won't have any room.

Going to be in Maine for 4 nights at acadia, then down to mass just south east of Boston. Anything cool I should see, do, or eat? Anything interesting for kids? Appreciate any tips or info.

Pulled the trigger on the heat pump. 11k out the door. Replace existing ac and backup oil furnace and they’ll remove the tank. Also added a resistance heater strip on the off chance the temp gets too low and the pellet heater isn’t running.

Just a recommendation...if you decide to drive in Boston, make sure your GPS/phone map is up to date. It's a nightmare w/o one. All the roads in the city were originally horse trails, lots of one way, etc.

The Black Heritage trail and the Freedom trail are nice on a sunny day and if you have older kids.
Being from Mass though and having had to commute to Boston in rush hour traffic, I'd stay in Maine. 93 sucks pretty much 24/7 nowadays.

We are staying 3 nights in mass just south of Boston. Are you saying taking my camper into Boston would be a bad idea? Was also thinking of getting a uber for Boston? I think we will be close to Plymouth and thought I seen some historical stuff there.

Plymouth and Deluxebury are scenic. Camper in Boston should be OK, except Soldiers Field Road, Memorial Drive and Storrow drive all have bridges, one as low as 9 feet 10 inches, with height restrictions due to old low overpasses. They are marked 'cars only'. Peeling the top off a rental truck is common with students moving in in the late Summer. The act is called 'storrowing' and photographing the vehicles with peeled tops or even stopped short of an overpass is a local sport with plenty of action. Hey, Boston is a sports town and some parts are quite old.
A local driver can be a good idea as the roads can be confusing for some plus a local driver might know some good shortcuts or roads to avoid today due to construction or what-not. As might a local hire tour driver that many tourists that arrive on cruise ships commonly use. You might run into some places that still require masks, although most places it is voluntary suggestion, so carry one in your pocket might be a good idea. I still carry one around with me although I usually leave it in the car.
I used to consider the traffic an acceptable driving challenge but sometime around the Big Dig I grew very unfond of it.
