Its not that cold out I know but these pellets burn hot maybe too hot for Fall temps. Put a bag in earlier but had to shut the stove off because it was 79 in here with the stove on 2 (out of 5). Not seeing much ash at all but will wait til a couple more bags run through. May very well be going back for more... Tbc.....
I could use the heat, its in the 20s here tonight! 68 inside... 28 outside. Cat lap warmer in place, snoozing away after he hit me up far a second supper.
I was very impressed with the sets. Then I ran my mouth off about em and now can never find em! From now on, I say they stink and are total garbage! Shhh, Don't tell your friends Xena. They will hoard em and leave you nada! Tell em Inferno's are better!
Burning through the bag, gonna toss bag #2 in later but it is looking like I've broken the trend of my experiences of the big box store blues. Jay I don't have any friends who burn pellets, they all burn wood. Still plenty of squirrels around these parts though... Just talked to friend who is retired. He's coming Thursday morning with truck.
Seriously Xena, go get as many bags/tons as you can at the low price....the Set's are for real. They are my "go to" pellets when the temps get real cold. As I mentioned in another thread, a good "shoulder/early winter" pellet are the Timber Heats (AKA Dry Creek) I saw in the pic you posted. Grab 4-5 bags and try them out....I think you'll like them for this time of the year.
I tried Timber Heats before they leave more ash behind than I like. My ash pan is huge and with a good pellet I can go a month before emptying. Will stick with the Somersets this go round.
Sets are my favorite! End of story. If I could get some Turmans, Hamers, or Countey boys? I may change my mind. But Sets are the hottest pellet around me. I have burned 14 different brands. Maybe this is a new thread? Has anyone else kept a record of EVERY pellet they ever burned? (I have??)
My list would be very LONG and I wish I'd kept one. Many may have been forgotten! I'll jot them all(the ones I can remember) down someday!
Glad they arrived near me they are great. I have not found a box store pellet that burns both hot and clean enough to satisfy me until these. Gonna get a ton in my friends truck and another 25 bags in my Jeep. Unfortunately that's all I have room to stash at the moment. I could probably name most of the pellets I've used over the last eight years if I thought about it.
Liking the Sets? Huh Xena? You have a better selection of Pellet house brands up your way. For the money, the Sets are hard to beat.
Yes very much, and you're absolutely right! For the past couple years I've only been burning Okies, Black Hills, and La Crete but they come at a premium from the local pellet house. Have a ton of a mixed bag of those in the garage but won't be buying from him this year if the Sets continue to be available. Best big box pellet I've EVER burned without a doubt.
I gotta get me some Sets, and Xena, at 79 my wife walks around with a blanket wrapped around herself. She is forever cold.
My Mom was always cold too. She was 73 when we installed the stove and was perfectly happy if I kept it 80 degrees in here which I did for her. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that if the sets can satisfy my strict requirements then I'd bet most people out there would be thrilled with them. Try some if you are able to get them.
Just paid for a ton of the sets. 207.50 on my Lowes card. Picking them up tomorrow with friends truck. Wish I had room at the ranch for more thats a nice price.
Are you buckin for pig status, Hoggin em all up before others can? Cool!! Glad you like em, But send some down to me will ya!
I would REALLY like to try some Sets, but I don't know of anyone selling them around here. Anyone hear about them being available in central Maine?
