I'm wondering what song might come to mind when you think of Memorial Day.

For me, "When the tigers broke free" by Pink Floyd is the song that most resonates, but there are others as well.

I'd also like to mention that many consider this a "Veterans" day of remembrance, and it surely is.

But it is a day of remembrance for those "that gave all" for their country.

I think of what courage it must have took to leave a trench to attack the enemy that is entrenched, or what it must've took to attack an enemy bunker, while machine gun fire and grenades are going off all around you.

The pilots, bombadiers, and gunners that left on missions deep into enemy territory, knowing many will never make it back.

I have the utmost respect, and gratitude for those that have served, and those that serve today.

But I just don't think many of us can compare our service experience with those that served during the World Wars.

I also don't want to leave out all the soldiers, sailors, and Marines that stormed the beaches on D-day. Or those that perished on Dec 7, 1941 at Pearl Harbor.

The courage and valor of our troops and allies must be respected and remembered.

Agreed. Brings back a lot of tough memories. Too many funerals/services.

"Riding With Private Malone" is one that I enjoy. If somebody could load it up here, I would appreciate it.

A very late add, but it came through my Pandora favorites, and it made me wish I had added it earlier.

Lyrics for those that aren't really into rock below..

    Lyrics....

    My 16 locked and loaded
    All fear has been avoided
You say the words and my weapon is drawn
This one could be my last time
Some people call it war crime
I may be staring down a lethal sight
    (To die)
Nothing shocks you like a bullet hole
Leaving my fear on the danger line
Suffering no man should ever know
Leaving my faith on the danger line
I do this for my family
    My daughter loves her daddy
Too many talk down on things they don't know
    With colors never faded
    Reckless and unabated
They may take me but never take us all
    (I'll crawl)
Nothing shocks you like a bullet hole
Leaving my fear on the danger line
Suffering a man should never know
Leaving my faith on the danger line
    I know what you're thinking
    I've been there before
    So think of the times
The time we spent laughing away
So think of the times at home
    (Life without a care)
Now I find myself in my own blood
(Never thought I'd lie in my own blood)
The damage done is far beyond repair
I never put my faith in up above
(Never had much faith in up above)
But now, I'm hoping someone's there
I never meant to leave this world alone
I never meant to hurt the ones who care
And all this time I thought we'd just grow old
You know, no one said it's fair
Tell my baby girl that it's alright
I've sung my last song today
Remind the Lord to leave his light on for me
    I'm free
