Hey gang, I have 2 @ 290's and really don't need another saw, but  A friend of mines Father has a MS291 in pristine condition and maybe has cut 2 cord with it. It's real clean, he has 4 spare chains and case, all for $325.00 :emptywallet: He's had it a few years and it's now collecting dust because he's now in his mid 80's and can't use it anymore. My friend doesn't burn or cut and I was 1st offered. Anyone have a 291? Whattya all think? Deal or No Deal?

It's promised to me first so I figured I get an opinion here.

I have one here, got it new in 2012. I've cut alot of wood with mine, there are no aftermarket jugs or pistons I believe, when mine dies its going into the garbage. Not worth rebuilding

At that price I’d take it and sell one of the 290’s for $325. Easy upgrade!

I’d take it, as it’s an upgrade on the anti vibe setup. I have a buddy that runs 290’s then bought a 291 & was really happy about the difference in the anti vibe setup. Sell 1 of those 290’s. Plus you are getting 4 more chains.

I have a 290 and for some reason 99% of the time it goes along for the ride or is my go-to saw for mid size wood. Not sure why but it just seems to happen.
Yeah it is heavy and nothing special but has never let me down.

Not sure I would go for the 291.
I might think about selling one of the 290's you have and put that money with what with the cash for the 291 and step up to a pro saw.

And FYI you have CAD and do need another saw despite what you are telling us.

It is sort of like the idea of fixing something that is not broken.
