I banged the stove pipe to clean the black pipe part. Got a bunch of creasote to come down, raked it forward, threw in a little paper and 3 pieces of kindling. Lit it, it got hot enough to get the creasote burning . Made a nice little get the chill out of the house fire. Was 54° in the house when I lit it. Got the house up to 76° in about 20 minutes and was all burned up and out.
    Worked GREAT !
Nice and sunny out now , shorts and t shirt weather :D

One of the down sides of burning spruce with the stove closed down, creasote.
I need to get up and run the brush down it .
Supposed to have highs up to 70 and lows around 40 for a while .

We have had some beneficial rain, thankfully. The fire isn't completely out (mostly due to the inhospitable terrain and not being able to get water into the area), however they are saying it's about 75% contained. This would have been ugly without the rain!

Had a fire going last night (high 30s) but supposed to be close to 90 by tomorrow. Sheesh.

60° in the house with no fire overnight.
    Outside temp is around 32°
I would have lit a small fire in the stove but we will be taking off here shortly. IMG_20220430_150402890.jpg

We had heavy rain last night with a couple rounds of hail. We are getting more rain and thunderstorms this morning with hail. When things settle down, I will check the rain gauge but looking at it, I am guessing we have gotten over 3 inches of rain so far.

Just checked the rain gauge and found 4.1 inches of rain. Not bad for less than 24 hours:headbang:

13" of snow since about 6 am today. Supposed to end up with around 17" overall. It's currently 21 degrees F outside. Snowing HARD right now. Burning Aspen and Douglas Fir. 76 degrees F in the house. Just set my alarm for 5 am to make coffee and plow snow.

Snow better than tornados. One struck Gaylord yesterday afternoon. Nasty.
