Got a call from a tree service they were taking down some trees near me. They asked if I wanted any wood? Absolutely!! It was all hackberry and basswood, but for the low price of "never complaining about the wood they bring" you can't beat the price. There was a couple rotten/ hallow pieces they go to the burn pile.

If you’ve got the space that’s hard to beat.

Nice score. Nice they use the grapple to unload and stack them somewhat neatly. The tree companies that drop off here dump so sometimes the logs end up all over the place

I don't reject anything. If they brought me some mostly rotten soft wood I would just push it into the burn pile and burn it. The next time could be some better hardwood... IMHO, the best thing to do is thank them for bringing it and never complain. They could just as easily give it to someone else or take it back to their yard. They are doing me a huge favor and saving me money, time, and the hassle of going out to get it.

I actually prefer to burn 70% softwoods in the owb. Hardwoods turn to coals and the coals will be so thick the top layer of coals will burn to ash and smother the coals on the bottom. So I have to go out and rake the coals around every few hours or just burn 70% softwood.

OWB with a wood drop like that is perfect. Size, shape, species doesnt matter. It all burns. Having to split stack and store on a postage stamp, ive become quite a wood snob.
