No storm, they had a tree outfit come in and just drop it on the ground, the area i cut the wood out of , i went back and cut 99% of the limbs down to a lot smaller size. thinking about going to the house beside this one, asking if i can cut them down to size for them as well. Why not, i'm retired and enjoy running the saws, it'll keep me busy for a couple of hours at least. it is pretty good wood, Elm to be exact, BUT, i split some of it with the axe, it measured at the widest 28'' i thought it was closer to 3 ft, but, 28 and tall, hence the straighter wood on it. The main stem had a big hole in it, maybe 6'' diameter so, it was rotting from the inside out.
It split very well there was enough length in between the limbs that it split pretty easily, I even split some with a hoe dad ( single bit fire fighting axe) with a hoe type of implement on the back of the head. Picture of stack on “what a mess 2” posting.
