    What is it guys? Stringy and heavy like red oak.

    The bark looks like red maple, but heavy and stringy is not my experience with Red Maple. The wood in your pic looks saturated and heavy.

    Looks like hop hornbeam. This said without seeing all the replies. They dont get very big and seldom seen in my area.
