Doing some errands today and took a different route home. Spotted this and had to check it out. Wood moved to curbside. Not for me. Even if fresh cut id probably pass.
What's wrong with that wood? That ugly crap is my bread n buttah...when I get straight easy to split stuff I'm like man, these people that only take the goldilocks gravy wood have it easy!! Along those same lines, I have a hydro, so most of mine goes through that, but I do hand split some just to stay in practice, and some of it is darn near impossible...I'm thinking these guys that hand split everything must be beasts! Well, I have always cut to 20" or longer, but recently I cut some to 16" long...and holy moley, that's a lot easier to split!!!! I'm on to y'alls secret now!

In my early days I'd be all over that. Wow, FREE! In modern well-stocked wood snob times I wouldn't even waste the fuel in my saw trying to chunk all that up. I think that's still worth it for someone just starting out that needs wood for next winter though.
You have to give extra credit for the nice job on the sign. If you take the sign + the wood and add the two together then divide by two I would say it makes the pile average?
One thing ive liked about recent FBM scores is that 12 month old logs will dry faster for next burning season. Bark comes off. Any green fresh cut id have to wait for the following year for it to be ready, unless a 6 month SS wood.
They're taking the wrong approach to getting rid of that junk. Put a $20 for sale sign on it and it will disappear overnight.
The bark on wood is Norway maple, but i didnt inspect the pile closely to see if it all was. There were more logs farther in the yard. Looks like they spent more time making the sign than moving the wood.
