That's not it. That $ dried up a while back. From what I'm seeing, they are doing side hustle jobs, starting their own businesses, etc. Gen Z and Millennials are Disrupting the Workplace As They’re Choosing to be Jobless Rather Than Work for a Company They Don’t Like It's an interesting time. That's for sure.
Yup, C19 money was the start of it and then the "Big Quit" added to it. Don't fool yourself into thinking that the Covid money has dried up though. While the government check money is, there is still a ton of money out there from how society was changed during the shut down that is now being spent. (Increased savings from a closed economy.) This is one of the causes of our record inflation. A lot of those "who hoo, I'm free" purchases are likely being flipped when the thrill is gone.
I agree; my nephew is 1; Complained for years about housing and insurance and why the government should pay for them. When he turned 29 he got a job that actually covered insurance and with pay increases made financing condo possible. before that the mater degrees environmental engineer worked in a lab, in his dream job, For $.50 an hour than what fast food restaurants paid.
Well one 400 is in my barn! Went to get oil and air filters for my mowers and there was a 400 on the shelf. Cost $20 more than Christmas time. Had to dip into my cash stash but it came home with me. Cut about 5 face cords with it yesterday from my brother's log pile. Smooth and light. I cut some today with my MS 461 today as a comparison-both saws had new chains. I think the 400 is as quick on wood up to 16" or so-the 461 was quicker once you got to 18-20"+ logs. Didn't time it-just my feeling. Didn't use any COVID money-didn't get any! Used $$ from unused vacation time.
