And btw, how would you go about rolling one of these rounds into your lift? Sometimes noodling is required for those of us without hydraulic help.
That, is a tree now. If you cut out a circle out of the middle of that round you could roll both of em to the lift gate. Hahaha
Awesome firewood! And awesome helpers too!! I didn’t even know that Osage got that big. The biggest Hedge I’ve ever seen was about half that diameter. what year is your Dodge? My dad’s daily driver is a 93’ with a Cummins. It’s pushing 400,000 miles. That thing is bomb proof.
Technically, that was just one branch. I think the term is codominant? The other side has been dead for a while. It's a 93 with 210kish miles. It has the 5.9 gas engine. It was a farm truck before I got it. I think I've had it for 17 years and wasn't exactly easy on. Especially as a 21 year old kid.
I do not disagree that noodling has its place and I do plenty of it. The lift is rated for 1300 pounds so if it is short enough and I can roll it on the lift, it should lift it. The Wood Wolverine I would buck it up close to 16" and as long as they do not fall over should be able to be loaded with the lift.
Nah, he'd just sit in the corner and suck his thumb and cry a little. I've dealt with some big uns like that too, and even with equipment I don't like em. I give the guy mucho credit for making firewood outta those things.
Gavorosalini, that's some great looking wood, and fine looking helpers. About the noodling, I would be much more prone to noodle a round, than a fish! I'm not that adventurous!
Its just the way we do it round here. The big ones fall and no one wants to deal with it accept us crazy few. I learned a few things from jason...
Only lift I have is my 2 hands, so noodle-rama it was. Tree was on a slope so it would have been fun to watch someone try and roll one around. If pancaked on it's side I would have been screwed. I do just that. A handful or 2 combined with splitter scraps makes great fire-starter.
I have a coworker that will take all the noodles he can get for his bird runs. Hes got turkey, quail, ducks, and chickens. He goes through alot and is willing to come pick it up where ever I'm cutting.
Sounds like you guys could make a few bucks producing noodles. Lawn and leaf bags full. Heck i bet Jason could fill one in five minutes.
I think if there is a bit of grade while rolling one those rounds, you wouldn't have much of a say about the speed.
I too would love to get the actual weight of rounds from time to time. You asked for it and you shall receive. The first one was 16"x20". Second was 17"x20". Those numbers are approximate with them not being exactly round. I was a little embarrassed to explain to my wife what I needed a hanging scale for. Good thing she loves me.
Lol, I steal the bathroom scale. That’s dense! It’s crazy how much more that species weighs compared to others.
It’s good to know where they stand. That way your not trying to lift something beyond what you should. I was blocking that big tree out and they were weighing about 80ish. We need to take care of our backs.
