Man how do you do it ! You find the greatest wood. BL, Maple, and my love Mulberry.I see those beautiful rounds. One thing I wouldn't do is cut more than I could carry. When you leave to drop off a load someone could come by and scoop up what you left.No they are not taking my work.If they want it they 'll have to work for it.
I had bucked enough BL to fill out the load. Most of the time i only cut what i can take unless on a private residence in a yard and i have dibs on it all. This was still in a good tangle of vines and prickers that had been cut down so still challenging. Im used to it as its mostly the norm for roadside wood around these parts...especially BL. How common is mulberry up there? Few and far between down here. I dont know how i do it either Rich L ??? Something possessed me to take the back roads home otherwise would not have seen it. Maybe a sign from the wood gods! I go that way every six months. I should post a thread of what i pass on a daily basis. Either crap wood or too hard to retrieve or the snob in me doesnt want it.
I was being super cheap and waiting to find a "you $uck" deal, but had cashed the check and needed it so just bought it.
Yeah i havent seen them anywhere my brother broke his couple weeks ago…been telling him to get the check from fiskars but hes been procrastinating
I haven't had Mulberry in years and that was from a family friend's yard where the tree was storm damaged. That was a good spot to work.Doesn't look like a lot of traffic and I like your tall safety cone.
Nice take down. I dont see a lot of BL "out in the open" like that around here with lots of branches off the trunk. You taking the wood? Hope you took it home as someone like me may come along!
Rain stopped early afternoon so had some time to run the hydro and split the whole load. Pile of yellow splits very cool.
He's a buddy of mine and he's putting a woodburner in his shop this summer, so I left the wood for him.... It was hard to walk away from it, I'm a black locust guy!!
Rainy week so finally got back for load #2. Compare this pic with the one from post #20 above. Bucked up the rest of the BL trunk, sectioned and loaded. About half a load. Bucked some Norway to fill out the load. Some twist to the grain but good wood. I left the gnarlier chunks behind. 400 cut the load. Liking the saw more and more even with the louder bark box. Burned through just over a tank of gas. Next load will have that nice straight Norway trunk.
