Ms. buZZsaw and i went out to eat last night and instead of taking the highway i took the backroads home. Passed an area where i scored a black locust blowover October 2020. There was a bunch of wood freshly cut. Black locust, Norway maple and this a big mulberry. A rare score for me on 2 of the 3 and the BL to boot. IMG_0793.JPG Unmistakable with that end color. Wanted to turn around and check it out more but she wouldve killed me. You hoarders know how that goes im sure! Was going cutting today anyhow and wasnt missing out on this. IMG_0790.JPG IMG_0791.JPG IMG_0792.JPG About 3/4 PU full. Biggest mulberry ive ever cut. IMG_0796.JPG IMG_0797.JPG Saved one log for milling. IMG_0795.JPG Moved to the BL. IMG_0788.JPG IMG_0798.JPG IMG_0799.JPG Cut enough to fill the load. 361 did the cutting. 261 along for the ride. IMG_0801.JPG IMG_0802.JPG Load at storage awaiting the hydro. IMG_0803.JPG Still a half load of BL and at least 2.5 of Norway maple. Only got pics of one pile of NM. Three piles of it and nice pole straight trees too. IMG_0789.JPG Cant get over how it resembles ash and has fooled me in the past. I actually looked at the standing tree this was cut from to conform based on twig structure. IMG_0800.JPG Ill be back here real soon!:tree: :saw: Glad i took the backroads home.

That's a beaut clark! Mulberry is  as is BL. Burned through the big mulberry I had this winter and such a pleasant aroma! Almost incense like. Wish I could get more. I'd ask a premium for it. :emptywallet: You also get great snap crackle pop.

Id love to get more too.

The half cord i had i sold for a premium last Fall to a regular. Only a couple dozen splits on hand now to go with this so i have a while (this will sell 23-24 season) to top off a half cord. Hafta keep my eyes open at the dump.

It was fun. Almost matched the high visibility safety shirts i wear. 361 was nice and sharp so chowed right through it.

    Great score.
So where are you finding all this stuff by the road? Is it public land where you don’t need permission? I’d love to get some large mulberry

This was next to a train bridge and had cut there before. Roadside wood for the taking is a very common sight around here. Ive have asked cops who have stopped and they say its for the taking. If its obviously on someones land i try to get permission. This pic is from October 2020 when i was first there. IMG_3299.JPG
